Both related products, Isilon and ECS, together were world leading offerings with over $2b revenue per year.

Define and align the global strategy for the platform, redesign and integration of older product generations, and migration of customers to new platform.

2015 - 2016

Influenced the initial design and development of an innovative OpenStack IaaS appliance. This included all phases from strategy, development and new product launch, organization and execution of sales and technical training, and working with product marketing on the positioning and pricing of the product.

Collaboratively developed the European business for the product working closely with customers and sales team as well as speaking at OpenStack conferences. Gathered broad feedback for the community.
Result driven:

  • successfully launched the first 2 product versions on budget and on time
  • trained the complete sales organization in US and EMEA
  • spoke at 3 OpenStack conferences in Europe
  • initiated first reference customers

Lead Product Manager DB2 Cloud and HA Databases
2014 - 2015

Built the vision for the the DB2 product portfolio in the cloud and appliance format. This included prioritizing of cloud platforms, specification of offerings, definition of pricing models and sales motions, as well as functional specification of different offerings. Led a team of high impact product managers.

Increased the market size for an established database product by finding new cloud use cases. Used problem-solving skills for specific customer scenarios.

Some results:

  • defined profitable cloud platforms for the database deployment and eliminated non-profitable ones
  • doubled the sales of the high availability relational database in the cloud
  • established high availability database as the standard offering of DB2 in the cloud
  • owned a portfolio of more than 10 different offerings at the same time
